While researching for an up coming post I am writing I was trying to remember the name of the rest stop we used when on road trips across the south and mid west. It was my Auntie Shirley that remembered it was Stuckey’s. Famous for their pecan roll and pecan divinity (Mama Stuckey’s recipes), they were the one stop shop for food, gas and gifts along the highway from the 1930’s through the 1970’s.
With an all time high of 350 locations it dwindled to just 75 by the 80’s. In 1985 it was repurchased by the Stuckey family and today has 115 locations.
